Local wrestlers compete at Oneonta's Rotary Tournament

ONEONTA– Over the weekend, the Sherburne-Earlville, BGAH, and Unatego-UV-Franklin wrestling teams competed at the Ross Cordell Rotary Tournament held at Oneonta High School. Waverly won the overall tournament as S-E finished as the runner up. U-UV-F took fourth and BGAH came in 17th.
S-E had nine wrestlers on the podium; including senior Landon Andrade, who is now over 100 career wins. He earned his 100th win over Christmas break and finished third in the Rotary tournament with his only loss against Carthrage's Kamryn Dorchester, who he has matched up against before. S-E's Drew Telesky came away with his first varsity tournament championship win at 101 pounds.
U-UV-F's Wyatt Meade and Yanni Drapaniotis all remain unbeaten this season as they won their respective weight classes. Abdul-Jamil Zaggout also won the 131 weight class for the Spartans while BGAH's Elliott Briggs came in second place in the 215 weight class.
