Local indoor track teams compete at Hurley Invitational

ITHACA – The Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton, Norwich, Oxford-Greene, and Unadilla Valley indoor track teams competed at the Hurley Invitational held at Ithaca College over the weekend. The BGA girls tied with Union-Endicott for 11th place while UV took 14th, Norwich in 21st, and Oxford-Greene did not place.
The Norwich boys came in eighth as BGA finished 12th and UV in 23rd.

BGA:
Girls:
Starting off, the 4x200 meter relay team took eighth as Kathleen Charette, Kaylee Biriki, Breegan George, and Makayla McCloud finished in a time of 2:00.46 to lead the BGA girls as a team.
McCloud led the Bears individually with a third place finish in the long jump with a jump of 16 feet, four inches, a new personal best and finished sixth in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.70 seconds.
Tabitha Charette led BGA in the 1500 meter race walk, where she came in fourth place with a new best time of 9:25.14. Olivia Hall followed in fifth place as Lucia Hall took 11th and Madison Joslin in 14th.
Tabitha also competed in the 600 meter run, where she finished 48th, setting another new best time of 2:22.55 with teammate Laila Williams in 22nd. Carly Finch ran to a 52nd place finish in the 300 meter dash with Kathleen Charette in 44th and Jordan Phillips in 56th.
Macey LaFever competed in both the 1000 and 1500 meter runs. She came in 29th in the 1000 meter run with Clare Sullivan in 42nd. LaFever finished 31st in the 1500 meters with Chandler Benjamin behind her in 32nd.
Emily Sprow led the team in the triple jump with a jump of 31 feet, 10 and a quarter inches for sixth place. Brooklinn Hall came in 15th place (28-3) with Jordan Phillips setting a new best jump of 24-0.50 for 22nd place. Aside from McCloud, Brenna George took 22nd in the long jump (13-2.50) with Aubrey Schinn in 23rd and Brooklinn Hall in 26th.
Kayla Patton came in 18th in the high jump with a jump of four feet as Phillips finished with the same jump for 20th place.
Tori Suda led the Bears in the throwing events. She finished ninth in the weight throw with a throw of 29-1.25 as Morgan Prisco finished 18th (21-7.25) and Emilie Hopkins in 23rd (19-7.25).
Suda came in 13th in the shot put with a throw of 28 feet, five inches with teammate Marissa Mayo directly behind her in 14th with a throw of 28-1.25, which is a new personal best for the freshman. Prisco finished 37th (21-2) as Catie Crocker earned a new personal best throw of 14-0.75 for 62nd.
Boys:
The BGA boys relay teams had solid performances on the day with the 4x200 team finishing in seventh, the 4x400 team in ninth, and the 4x800 team tied for 11th. The 4x200 team was led by Jake Barber, Connor Davy, Anthony Graham, and Thomas Joyce while Barber, Nolan Foster, Jaxson McGraw, and Brock Porter led the 4x400 team. The 4x800 team consisted of Matthew Wombacker, Owen Degan, Aiden Quick, and Blake Tuttel, who tied with Lansing with a time of 10:47.18.
Connor Davy led the Bears with a third place finish in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.70 seconds, which is a new personal best for the junior. Joyce, Davy, Graham, and Barber all competed in the 300 meter dash with Joyce leading the pack with a 13th place finish. Davy came in 20th, Graham in 27th, and Barber in 44th.
Ashton Adams took eighth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.98 seconds, a new personal best.
Owen Degan earned a top 10 finish in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:06.97 with Blake Tuttel in 29th and Connor Rowe in 30th. Degan and Rowe also ran the 1600 meters, along with Aiden Quick. Degan finished 21st in the 1600 meters with Quick in 31st and Rowe in 54th.
Quick also ran the 1000 meters, where he finished 24th with a new best time of 3:10.89. Teammate Christian Campbell finished 59th and also competed in the 600 meter run with Tuttel and Brock Porter.
Porter led the trio with a 14th place finish in the 600 meters as Tuttel came in 55th and Campbell in 57th.
Ethan Beardslee led the boys with a seventh place finish in the high jump with a jump of five feet. Beardslee also finished 23rd in the weight throw with a throw of 26 feet, three inches with Ryan Larsen ahead of him in 21st (29-2.50) and Jeremiah Santiago behind him in 24th (25-2.25).
Thomas Joyce finished 28th in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet and an inch as Aiden Lockwood came in 41st (13-3.50). Matthew Wombacker came in 10th in the pole vault (10-0).
Larsen finished 19th in the shot put with a throw of 35-4.50 with Enoche Ross in 26th (33-3.75), Santiago in 29th (32-4.25), and Damien Nickerson in 38th (27-10.75).
NHS:
Girls:
The Norwich girls competed in the 4x200 relay, where they took 15th with a team of Ava Cirigliano, Brianna Cirigliano, Tristan Monroe, and Reagan Decker. Ava led the girls in the running events as she came away with a seventh place finish in the 300 meter dash with a time of 45.52 seconds. Monroe finished 46th with Brianna in 47th.
McKenzie Hagenbuch and Malea Sutton ran the 1000 meters event, where Hagenbuch finished 19th and Sutton came in 24th with a new personal best time of 3:56.25. Emilia Pepe finished 35th with a time of 2:06.81 as Laci Zieno ran to a 36th place finish in the 1500 meters.
Reagan Decker led the Norwich girls in the fielding events. She earned a ninth place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 30 feet, one and a quarter inch. She finished 12th in the long jump with a jump of 14-7.25. Both jumps are new personal bests for Decker. Tristan Monroe finished 32nd in the long jump with a jump of 12-8.25.
Lara Tefft led the team in the throwing events, where she finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, four and a half inches. Eva Blenis came in 25th (23-7) as Natalie Phillips finished 35th (21-7).
Tefft took seventh in the weight throw with a throw of 35 feet exactly as Skylar Romberg finished 21st with a throw of 20 feet, eight and a half inches.
NHS:
Boys:
The Norwich boys were stellar in the 4x200 relay before shining in the individual events as a team of Cameron Carnachan, Caden Sutton, Nic Sutton, and Gabe Decker earned a top five finish with a time of 1:39.67. Caden and Gabe both went on to win their respective individual events.
Caden took the victory in the 600 meter run with the fastest time of 1:28.97 as Decker won the 300 meter dash with a time of 36.71 seconds.
Nic Sutton came away with a 13th place finish in the 1600 meter run and finished 15th in the 1000 meter run with Patrick Mulwane in 52nd.
O-G:
Girls:
Ellie Beadle and Shanna Krupp were the lone female competitors for the Oxford-Greene girls.
Beadle competed in the 300 meter dash, in the 600 meter run, and in the long jump. She earned two 52nd place finishes in both the 600 meters and in the long jump and finished 77th in the 300 meter dash.
She earned a new personal best in the 300 meter dash with a time of 1:08.90.
Krupp finished 16th in the weight throw with a throw of 23 feet and 3/4 inch and came in 18th in the shot put with a throw of 25-0.75, setting a new personal best.
Boys:
The Oxford-Greene boys competed in two team relays, where they finished 10th in the 4x800 and 15th in the 4x400. The 4x800 team was led by Haven Bourne, Eddie Golden, Liam Griffin, and Sherman Ludolph while the 4x400 team consisted of Eddie Golden, Griffin, Ludolph, and Liam Phillippone.
Bourne led the team individually with a 19th place finish in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:07.77 and finished 27th in the 1600 meter run with a new best time of 5:31.04. Bartalo Bourn came in 17th place in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 10.53 seconds.
Eddie Golden and Ben Newvine ran in the 600 meters event, where Golden finished 33rd and Newvine in 71st. Liam Griffin ran the 1000 meters, where he finished 37th with a new personal best time of 3:24.46 as Sherman Ludolph finished 55th in the 300 meter dash with Liam Phillippone in 69th.
Phillippone also competed in both the long and triple jumps. He finished 29th in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet and a quarter inch. His triple jump was 29-0.50 for 25th place as Isaac Utter came in 21st place (31-1).
Utter threw in both the shot put and weight throw events, where he finished 15th in the weight throw with a throw of 35 feet, six and a half inches. Liam Griffin came in 27th place (24-0.50). Utter finished 25th in the shot put with a throw of 33-5.25.
UV:
Girls:
The Unadilla Valley Storm girls excelled as a team in the 4x800 meter relay with a third place finish and finished 14th in the 4x200. The 4x800 relay team was led by Margaret Kemnah, Addison Marinelli, Molly Gorrell, and Natalya Schrag, who finished behind Horseheads and Corning. The 4x200 team was led by Sophia Bell, Noelle Fernadez-Naughton, Shyla Roberts, and Molly Gorrell, who finished just ahead of Norwich (2:03.70), with a time of 2:03.39.
Molly Gorrell led the Storm girls with a second place finish in the 600 meter run with a new best time of 1:46.02, just shy of U-E’s 1:45.60. Marinelli came in 22nd place with a time of 2:01.92.
Margaret Kemnah competed in both the 1500 and 3000 meter run. Her best finish was in the 3000 meter run, where she came in eighth place with a new best time of 13:58.90. She ran to a 24th place finish in the 1500 meter run (6:23.36).
Natalya Schrag earned a ninth place finish in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:29.73 as Piper Hine finished 61st in the 300 meter dash.
Hine and Noelle Fernandez-Naughton both jumped in the long jump event, where Fernandez-Naughton finished 21st with a jump of 13 feet, three and 3/4 inches. Hine came in 49th with a jump of 10-7.25.
Alivia Plows and Gabby Barnes both competed in the weight throw, where Plows took 53rd (17-7.50) with Barnes right behind her in 54th with a new personal best throw of 17-5.25.
Boys:
A team of Jacob Prentice, Killian Wood, Jake Favinger, and Dominic Berthel led the Storm boys to a 15th place finish in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:53.95 before partaking in the individual events.
Prentice led the Storm with a sixth place finish in the 300 meter dash, where the senior set a new personal best time of 37.81 seconds.
Wood also sprinted in this event, where he finished 66th with his own personal best time of 47.07 seconds. Wood finished 47th in the long jump with a jump of 12 feet, three and a half inches.
Favinger completed in both the 1600 and 3200 meter run, where he came in 14th in the 3200 meters and 28th in the 1600. He earned a new personal best time of 11:24.39 in the 3200 meter run.
Aidan James ran in both the 600 and 1000 meter run. He came in 31st in the 1000 meter run and achieved a new personal best time of 1:48.34 in the 600 meters, where he finished 43rd. Dominic Berthel came in 58th place in the 600 meter run, setting a new personal best time of 1:57.10.
