Norwich boys swim team hosts Forks
NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado boy swim team hosted Chenango Forks on Tuesday evening, falling 90-57.
As a team, Norwich won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:47.73 compared to Forks’ 1:52.25. Forks came away with the victories in both the 200 medley and the 400 freestyle relay.
Senior Kris Deuel led Norwich with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle event, with a time of 2:02.06. Freshman Sebastian Kenyon finished fourth with a personal best swim of 2:35.15. Deuel also won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.08.
Tim Guezewich pulled out a top finish in the 50 freestyle in a close battle with Forks’ Jack Vavra. Guezewich beat Vavra by a small margin as he finished in a time of 25.43, compared to Vara’s 25.45.
Alex Moutarde finished third with a new best time of 25.64 seconds as Sharon Thinagaran earned a new best 33.26 for fifth place. He also finished second in the 100 freestyle with Kenyon in fourth and Thinagaran in fifth. Kenyon earned a new personal best time of 1:05.88 and Thinagaran had a new best of 1:22.66.
Guezewich also came in second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:09.37, behind Forks’ 1:04.14.
Amon Oliver earned a top finish in the 500 freestyle, where he achieved a new personal best time of 5:53.60. He also took second in the 200 individual medley, where the sophomore picked up a new personal best time of 2:35.46, behind Forks’ 2:28.43.
Norwich competes at the Wolverine Invite held at Waverly High School on Saturday at 1 p.m.
