NORWICH — Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Chenango County is preparing for the Norwich Winter Farmers' Market at SUNY Morrisville-Norwich Campus, located at 20 Conkey Avenue.
The winter farmers' market hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m, Thursday afternoons, on dates February 6 and 20, March 6 and 20 and April 3 and 17.
CCE Agriculture and Natural Resource Educator Rich Taber stated there is still room for additional vendors.
“We encourage any vendors with food and agriculturally produced wares to partake in the market,” Taber said. “We would like to be a strong presence in the Norwich area for years to come.”
So far, we have about five vendors signed up,” he added.
With college students back in class, and a few Boces Classes in attendance, Taber believes vendors will have a good deal of prospective shoppers.
Taber said a few of the vendors will be Andrea and Mark Scmidt, selling maple syrup products from their farm in Sherburne. Dave Dietrich of Davejen Farm will be selling meat from grass fed beef cattle and True Nature Farm will be offering delicious winter greens, which he noted is a scarce commodity at this time of year.
He said in case of bad weather and poor road conditions, the market will close and notifications will be posted on their CCE Facebook page.
CCE is also working in partnership with Commerce Chenango, planning the upcoming summer market.
Interested vendors can email contact information and a list of items for sale to Rich Taber at rbt44@cornell.edu.
