SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville Timberwolves girls basketball team lost a heart-breaker against Canastota by a one-point 32-31 deficit.
S-E was down by 12 halfway through the third quarter to battle back and even took the lead and held it most of the fourth quarter. However, Canastota made the final go-ahead, which was the game-winner in the final 30 seconds.
Peyton Darragh and Claire Barth led S-E with eight points each as Alyse Brown and Morgan Mikalunas added five points apiece. Darragh and Brown had seven rebounds while Kendall Hill led the Timberwolves with a team-best nine rebounds.
S-E (1-8) hosts another tough league matchup against Herkimer on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
