Oxford boys top Greene
OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks boys basketball team hosted neighboring Greene on Friday night, where the Blackhawks came away with a big 79-25 victory. Oxford has won their last four games and has scored 50 or more points throughout the season.
Oxford held Greene to two points in the opening eight minutes with a lone basket by Keegan Waltz and missed free-throws. Greene also missed free-throws in the fourth quarter and did not score at all within those eight minutes, showing great defense by Oxford. Oxford scored Greene’s total 25 points in the fourth quarter alone.
Everyone contributed for Oxford with Donovan Rickard paving the way with 25 points, thriving with eight points in the fourth quarter. Nic Dodzweit added 15 points off the bench as Ben Sheridan had 11 points with a strong first half. Gordon Smith finished with 10 points as Aiden Mellem chipped in five points and Bennett Paden and Landen Olinski both had three points in the fourth quarter. Kyle Benjamin, Sam Hendricks, and Rich Hunter all added a basket while Jared Sheridan made one free-throw.
Greene’s Keegan Waltz led the team with eight points and went four-for-four at the free-throw line. Lincoln Youngs followed with seven points as Tristan Donnelly and Nick Holt finished with three points. Keaton Browning and John Mulroy both scored two points in the loss.
Oxford (6-3) hits the road for a three-game road trip, where they are at Afton on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Greene (0-12) heads to Sidney on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
