OV boys fall short to DeRuyter

DERUYTER – On Tuesday, the Otselic Valley Vikings boys basketball team traveled to DeRuyter, where they came up short 60-52.
After a slow start for both teams, the Rockets stayed consistent with 18 points in the last three quarters played. OV tried to match such efforts, but was short of that as their best was 16 points in the third quarter.
The Vikings have been playing evenly this season and their record of 6-6 proves that as their league continues to be competitive.
Owen Davis led the Vikings with 17 points with three threes and seven rebounds. Payne Wood posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. He also had three blocks.
Lukas Schieferstein added nine points, going four-of-six at the free-throw line and had three rebounds. Caleb Loomis also had three rebounds and chipped in eight points. Loomis led the team with seven assists.
Logan Foster had three points and Ryley Palmer added two to round out the team’s scoring.
OV (6-6) hosts Fabius-Pompey in a non-league game on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Vikings defeated the Falcons 79-64 at the Holiday Tournament.
