Oxford boys extend win streak to six with win over BG

BAINBRIDGE – The Oxford Blackhawks boys basketball team is on a roll as they extended their win streak to six straight with a 53-32 win over Bainbridge-Guilford. Oxford climbs up the leaderboard and are tied for second in the MAC behind Delhi, who is unbeaten in league play.
Both teams played a steady first half with Oxford taking a 26-21 lead at the break before continuing to work in the second half.
B-G was held to 11 points in the second half, unable to turn things around while the Blackhawks stayed on track to secure the win.
Oxford’s Ben Sheridan led the team with 17 points, including three threes. He had eight points in both the second and third quarters.
Donovan Rickard followed with 16 points with two threes in the second quarter. Nic Dodzweit has been impressive off the bench as he finished with 12 points, including eight of the team’s 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Jared Sheridan, who celebrated his birthday, finished with five points in the second half as Gordon Smith hit a three in the first quarter.
B-G was led by Michael Lipani with 10 points with two threes in the first half. Tim Kinter had two threes and made two free-throws to finish with eight points as Cyrus Megale also hit two threes, in the first half, and finished with seven points. Dominick Johnson added five points as Jaedan Walling finished with two points.
Oxford (8-3) heads into one of their toughest matchups yet as they travel to Delhi on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. B-G (8-6) heads to Unatego/Franklin on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
