Afton boys drop to Harpursville
AFTON – The Afton Crimson Knights hosted Harpursville for a local non-league contest on Monday evening. Afton fell 64-45 to the Hornets.
This game was the second meeting between both teams, including the counted league game in late December.
Afton’s leading scorers Ryan Wright, Pierce Bushaw, and Dion Bushaw led efforts in the first quarter, where the Crimson Knights started off strong, outscoring the Hornets 12-9 within those first eight minutes. However, Harpursville improved throughout the rest of the game, where the Crimson Knights could not stop their leading scorer, Jayden Deleon, who posted a game-high 30 points with four threes. Afton stayed consistent with 11 points in the second, third, and fourth quarters but couldn’t make shots when it mattered most to stay up with the Hornets.
Ryan Wright led Afton with 19 points while Pierce Bushaw chipped in 11 and Dion Bushaw with 10 points. Toni Obeada added five points with a three in the second quarter and two free-throws in the final eight minutes.
