Man charged with stealing bottles from donation bin in Smithville

SMITHVILLE - A McDonough man was arrested Jan. 20 for petit larceny after allegedly stealing bags of bottles and cans from a donation bin, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said deputies arrested Bryan K. Baker, 44, following a larceny complaint in the Town of Smithville. According to the sheriff’s office, security video footage and a photo of a license plate led to Baker’s arrest.
Deputies determined Baker had an active arrest warrant issued by the Village of Oxford Police Department and a suspended New York State driver’s license, the sheriff’s office said.
Baker was held for arraignment in court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Smithville Town Court at a later date.
All charges are allegations, and Baker is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
