NORWICH - The Winter Farmers' Market inaugural launch will be from 3 to 6 p.m., February 6, at the Morrisville State College Norwich Campus located at 20 Conkey Avenue.

The market will run every other Thursday, starting on February 6 and continuing on February 20, March 6 and 20, and April 3 and 17.

One of the contributing vendors will be Andrea Schmidt of the Schmidt Farm in Sherburne, where she and her husband Mark produce various maple products. Mark said he has been making maple syrup since his youth but in the last eight years, it has become an additional featured product on their dairy farm.

"I prefer selling our syrup retail because we get to talk with the customers and answer any questions they may have," said Schmidt. "We have found that winters can have slower sale times after the holidays and there aren't a lot of markets or activities in the winter, so we look forward to the new winter market in Norwich."
