The Oxford Historical Society President Retires after 30 years

OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society President Fred Lanfear has retired after more than 30 years preserving and maintaining Oxford's history in the museum at the old railroad depot.


Lanfear started as a volunteer, working his way through the ranks to become a trustee and then the president. He was a huge asset with an unmatched wealth of knowledge.


He has given 100% to the protection of Oxford's history and was always willing to share historical information with great love and respect for the Oxford village and town.


“Fred has contributed to the museums history for over the 30 years and has been a gem of a resource person when we're gathering information,” said Oxford Historical Society Museum Executive Director Diane Branham.

Branham said she has worked side by side with Fred for over three years and has watched him give and donate his time- so other people can enjoy the history from community.
