NORWICH — The Guernsey Memorial Library's Sewing Club will be meeting from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 8 in the library's meeting room.

The club aims to provide a space for local sewers to enjoy the craft with others, get sewing advice, and work on ongoing projects.

"We don’t do instruction or anything like that. Everybody just brings whatever they’re working on and we just hang out for the day," explained Sewing Club Member Julia Whitney. "The library provides us the irons, the cutting mats, and the space. So you just basically need to bring your own sewing machine and whatever project you’re working on, and it’s a lot of fun."

She said the club is a great opportunity to get sewing tips from others, as well as share materials and patterns.

"We had one woman come and she brought a whole tote of fabric that she wasn't using and let everybody go through ... So sharing materials is easier to do," said Whitney. "We get ideas from each other. You might see somebody working on a bag and you like it, so we can share patterns and ideas."
