NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council, located at 27 West Main Street in Norwich, will be hosting a workshop series where participants will learn how to craft their own leprechaun figurine.
The series will consist of four classes held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays from February 26 to March 19. The workshop will be taught by teaching artist Linda Kays-Biviano, who taught a similar class in December, where participants made Christmas elf figurines.
"It’s a step-by-step tutorial," said Chenango Arts Council Administrative Assistant Mary Beth Miller. "She’ll teach you not only how to sculpt the figurine but also how to craft some clothing for him. So you’ll learn a lot of things about how to make figurines."
The leprechauns will be sculpted out of polymer clay, and there will be a small amount of sewing to make the clothing. All supplies will be included, and Miller said the workshop is suitable for beginners.
The workshop series is $80 for Arts Council members and $85 for non-members. To register, visit ChenangoArts.org. Class size is limited, so Miller suggests signing up soon.
"She typically likes to keep the class small enough that she can really focus on everybody. So the class is limited to about 12. So we can still take people at this time, but there is a class limit," she said.
Additionally, Miller said individuals can still register even if they can't make all of the classes.
