DCMO BOCES participate in SkillsUSA Regional Competition

MORRISVILLE - 22 students from Alan D. Pole Campus and 40 students from Robert W. Harrold Campus traveled to SUNY Morrisville Friday to participate in the annual SkillsUSA Area II Regional Conference and Competition. They joined students from 20 other BOCES and technical school campuses to compete in over 40 contests held in 8 careers clusters: Services, Computer & Communications, Construction, Mechanics, Security & Law, Leadership, Culinary, and Health. DCMO BOCES teachers, staff and administrators were also in attendance to support the students. A number of students from both campuses earned honors, and a student from Harrold Campus was elected to an office in New York State SkillsUSA. Pierce Haney, a Culinary Arts student from Unatego CSD, was elected Area II Vice President for the 2025-2026 school year. He will be inducted at the New York State SkillsUSA Conference in Syracuse this April.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that helps students develop the skills they need for technical, skilled, and service careers through a partnership among students, teachers, and industry professionals. Jennifer Lawrence, Director of Career and Technical Education at DCMO BOCES, serves as the Administrator Trustee of Area II. Nanette LaTourette, Human and Retail Services Teacher at Harrold Campus, also serves as an Advisor Trustee of Area II. SkillsUSA advisors at Harrold Campus are Nanette LaTourette (Human and Retail Services Teacher) and Jeanni Romanowski (Culinary Arts Instructor). Jamie Milk (Culinary Arts LTA) is the SkillsUSA advisor at Pole Campus.
