Greene girls defeat Windsor; prepare for Friday’s MAC semis
GREENE – On Wednesday, the Greene Trojans girls basketball team hosted non-league opponent Windsor for the final regular season game, which helped them in preparing for the MAC semifinals on Friday. The Trojans defeated Windsor 63-41.
Windsor had a strong start and a strong finish but the Trojans defense held them to four free throws in the second quarter and to a three-pointer after the break.
The Trojans matched intensity with Windsor in the first quarter before settling in and staying consistent offensively while continuing to be strong on defense.
Josie Dutcher led the Trojans with 20 points, where she went five-for-five at the free throw line. She scored eight points in both the second and fourth quarters to keep the offense going. Abby Yahner followed with 14 points, going off with 10 of the team’s 16 points in the first quarter.
Cali Knapp finished with 10 points, all in the second half, where she made five free throws and a three for eight points alone in the third quarter and added a bucket in the final eight minutes.
