B-G boys fall to Unatego-Franklin in MAC playoffs

UNATEGO – After finishing the season strong in a close win against Deposit-Hancock, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys’ basketball team traveled to Unatego-Franklin for the MAC playoffs. The Bobcats, who earned the seven seed, fell to the Spartans 64-52 in an intense game.

Both teams had met previously this season at the end of January with the Spartans winning 45-32.

B-G and Unatego-Franklin both came out strong in Thursday’s contest and matched pace until the Bobcats were limited after halftime. The Spartans did hold a slight edge throughout the game as well and could not be slowed down.

Both teams had their best efforts offensively in the final eight minutes with B-G trying to make a late comeback but the Spartans did not lose their momentum.

Michael Lipani led the Bobcats with 15 points with a strong second and third quarter. He scored five of the team’s nine points in the third quarter.
