B-G girls secure second half victory over Walton/Downsville

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford girls’ basketball team hosted Walton/Downsville on Tuesday for game one of a girls/boys MAC playoffs doubleheader at Bainbridge-Guilford High School.

B-G showcased their strength in the second half, overcoming a deficit to defeat Walton/Downsville 46-37.

B-G traded shots with Walton/Downsville in the first quarter before being held to two points in a 23-13 halftime deficit. The Bobcats made fine adjustments after the break as they quickly turned things around to take a 31-25 lead entering the fourth quarter, where they outscored Walton/Downsville 18-2.

Both teams also went to the free throw line several times throughout the game with B-G making 13-of-28 attempts. Ninth-grader Kamry Patton helped B-G take its first lead of the game with sinking a free throw and added more points to her varsity resume in the final eight minutes.

Jayslin Henderson made five-of-10 free throws and led the Bobcats with 17 points, going off with eight of the team’s 11 points in the first quarter, finding success with the inside layup.
