"This course is a great opportunity for anyone interested in fly fishing to learn the basics directly from passionate and experienced anglers," said Grady Thompson, Chenango Valley Chapter President. "With spring around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get on the water as insect activity increases and fishing conditions improve. Learning the fundamentals in a hands-on and friendly environment will help new anglers gain the confidence to enjoy the sport for years to come."

Attendees will learn the fundamentals of fly fishing, including casting techniques, understanding gear and equipment, an introduction to flies and their use in different fishing conditions, and more. Participants will be provided with all necessary gear. Those who prefer to bring their own equipment are welcome to do so, though it is not required.

The cost of registration is $45, which includes admission to the course, plus a one-year membership to Trout Unlimited, and a one-year subscription to Trout Magazine. The registration deadline is Thursday, March 27. For more information and to register, contact Chapter Treasurer Sam Scafidi at (607) 334-3197. Half of the registration fee is requested upfront, but accommodations can be made to ensure participation for all interested individuals.
