NORWICH — With only two more winter market dates on the calendar, the Norwich Winter Farmers’ Market will continue to offer fresh produce and baked goods from 3 to 6 p.m., April 3 and 17, in the SUNY Morrisville Campus, located at 20 Conkey Avenue in Norwich.
The market, a collaborative effort between SUNY Morrisville and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chenango County has been successful, but didn’t receive as many vendors as they hoped for.
“Next year, I would like to see a few more vendors,” said Grazing, Forestry, Ag Economic Development Specialist and Market Leader Rich Taber.
Davejen Farm, True Nature Farm, Schmidt’s Scattered Maples, and Fox Trail Farm were a few of the vendors offering their wares.
Schmidt’s Scattered Maples Owner Andrea Schmidt said additional signing may help increase market awareness and visitors.
“I think the market has been successful,” she said. “We made money on each day and have met new people in the community. I think next year we should have more signs on state route 12 to bring more people in.
Schmidt said the location of the market is good and the college has been very accommodating. She noted the fee to rent the space and Insurance was divided by the vendors.
