NORWICH – Alike the baseball team, the Norwich Purple Tornado softball team debuted its new turf field for Tuesday’s 2025 season opener against Chenango Forks. Norwich fell 17-5 against the Blue Devils.

Norwich had a great first start on their new field with getting on the board with two runs in the first inning.

Bri Cirigilano led off the inning with a hit by pitch before moving into scoring position off a double from Ava Cirigliano. Caitlin Wetterhahn singled to center field with one out to bring home the pair.

However, Forks answered back with a big second inning, scoring 10 runs to take the overall lead before adding on with four more in the third.
