Harpursville/Afton baseball drops to Sidney in season opener

SIDNEY – The 2025 season is underway for the newly merged Harpursville/Afton Crimson Hornets, coached by Rob Bronson and Eric Saeger. The Crimson Hornets were on the road to neighboring Sidney on Tuesday, where they fell 4-0.

The Sabers opened the scoring with two runs in the first, one in the second, and one final run in the seventh inning off four hits.

Harpursville/Afton were held to just two hits on the day, both from senior pitcher and lead-off batter Ryan Wright, who also stole a base. Matt Carman was the only other base runner for the Crimson Hornets as he drew a walk.
