Norwich outdoor track hosts double dual meet vs Oneonta and M-E

NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado outdoor track and field teams hosted a double dual meet against Oneonta and Maine-Endwell on Tuesday, with each matchup scored separately. Oneonta won both the boys’ and girls’ meets against Norwich, while the Norwich boys earned a win in their matchup with Maine-Endwell in the meet split. Some results from each event carried over into both individual meets to reflect the scoring.

Norwich vs M-E:

Girls:

The Norwich girls’ track team fell to Maine-Endwell 91-37. Tristan Monroe, Reagan Decker, Lara Tefft, and Natalie Phillips won their respective events.

Tristan Monroe took the victory in the girls’ long jump for Norwich with a new personal best jump of 14 feet, five and a half inches as Reagan Decker led in the triple jump with a jump of 28 feet, three inches.

Lara Tefft took the top finish for the shot put event with a throw of 32 feet, five and a half inches while Natalie Phillips cleared six feet, six inches in the pole vault.

Boys:

The Norwich boys’ track team defeated M-E 71-62, backed behind two team relay victories. Tiernan Lindsay, Pat Mulwane, Nic Sutton, and Caden Sutton won the boys’ 4x800 with a time of 9:35 as Malik Eccleston, Gabe Decker, Jonah Adams, and Steven Dowdall took the boys’ 4x100 with a time of 47.02 seconds.

Connor Marshall came away with the victory in the 110 meter hurdles with a new best time of 17.90 seconds.
