Sheriff: Driver fleeing police ignores stop sign, causes crash in Guilford
GUILFORD - A Town of Guilford man was arrested April 11 after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and causing a three-car crash, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.
Kenyon P. Pickens, 19, was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment following an investigation into a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of State Highway 8 and County Road 37.
“During the investigation, it was found that Pickens was attempting to avoid being stopped by a marked patrol unit,” reported the sheriff’s office.
Police said during the attempted flight, the driver failed to stop at a stop sign and did not yield to traffic, leading to the collision.
Pickens was released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Guilford Court at a later date.
All charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
