Oxford baseball back on track with a big win against Walton/Downsville

WALTON – After defeating Walton/Downsville in a non-league matchup to start the 2025 season, the Oxford Blackhawks traveled to Walton on Thursday, coming away with a big 22-9 league win. The win was just what the Blackhawks needed after battling back and coming up short in the previous contests.

Both teams battled in the first with Walton/Downsville take a brief 5-4 lead and holding a one run advantage after the second inning as both teams scored four runs.

From then on, Oxford held their opponent and went on to score 14 unanswered runs and had a total of 13 hits, along with stellar pitching to keep Walton/Downsville off the board through the final four innings.

Oxford was led by Blake Barrows, who excelled at the plate, going four-for-six with three RBIs. Degan Endress led the team with four RBIs as Nic Dodzweit drove in three runs on two hits. Conner Dunagan went three-for-six with two RBIs as Kyle Benjamin and Landen Olinski also drove in two runs.
