Oxford softball earns third win of the season in close game vs Unatego

OXFORD – After a bit of a break in between games, the Oxford Blackhawks softball team hosted the Unatego Spartans on Monday afternoon. The Blackhawks came away with a tight 3-2 victory to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Unatego got on the board first with a run before Oxford answered back to tie the game in the bottom of the third inning off an RBI single by Raya Warner. The score would remain 1-1 until Oxford added two runs in the bottom of the fifth, which the additional run ended up being the game-winner.
Abby Stone singled to lead-off the bottom of the fifth inning and advanced to third on an error before scoring on Peyton Cummings’ groundout RBI. Lily Marshman grounded out to bring in another run, which was the difference in this game. Marshman also pitched an outstanding game.
