Norwich softball drops to Windsor

NORWICH – After a battle with non-league opponent Greene, the Norwich Purple Tornado softball team resumed STAC league play at home against Windsor. Norwich, who took an early 4-0 lead, fell to the Black Knights 14-4.

Norwich had a hot start with a four-run first inning. Ava Cirigliano singled to center with one out, stole second, and scored on a line drive single by Kerragan Reid. Reid stole second and came in to score off a hot bat from Caitlin Wetterhahn. Loralee Brown walked to put two runners on for Emma Baker, who grounded into a fielder’s choice to get the runner out at home, but advance the runners to second and third.

Shaelyn Rice drove in both Wetterhahn and Brown with a two-out single to right field. Zaylee Thomas walked to load the bases before Siennah Bresee walked to bring home a run.
