Greene baseball defeats Harpursville/Afton

GREENE – On Wednesday, the Greene Trojans baseball team got back on track with a 7-1 victory at home against Harpursville/Afton. The Trojans swept the two-game set, including Wednesday’s league matchup.

Harpursville/Afton scored first with its only run of the contest. Ryan Wright led the game off with a triple and came into score on a passed ball. Aside from Wright, Cooper Warren and Matt Carman contributed with hits.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Greene tied and scored the go-ahead runs to make it 3-1. The Trojans extended their lead with one run in the second and had a three-run fifth inning.

Jackson Roth, who went three-for-three with three RBIs, led the first off with a single and came in to score on Lincoln Youngs’ single to center. Cooper Davis grounded out with runners in scoring position to drive in a run. Eli Eggleston had an RBI single to right.
