OXFORD - Fire crews from multiple departments responded to a working barn fire Friday night on Route 12 in the Town of Oxford, according to the Oxford Fire Department.
At approximately 8:35 p.m. on May 2, Oxford Assistant Chief Ingraham arrived to find a fully involved barn fire and advised all incoming units to initiate a defensive attack. Oxford FD Engine 261 laid a supply line up a long driveway and began suppression efforts, later supported by Greene FD Engine 213.
Water supply operations were established at Kutik’s, with Coventry and Norwich engines supplying tankers from Oxford, Greene, and Coventry. The Chenango County Office of Emergency Services assisted with air bottle refills.
All animals were safely evacuated prior to fire crews’ arrival. Oxford units cleared the scene and returned to service by 2:30 a.m. on May 3.
Mutual aid was provided by Greene, Coventry, and Norwich fire departments, Chenango County Emergency Services, 911 dispatchers, and the New York State Department of Transportation.
