Harpursville/Afton baseball shuts out Walton/Downsville

HARPURSVILLE – The Harpursville/Afton Crimson Hornets baseball team hosted a struggling Walton/Downsville team on Friday afternoon, where they came away with the 5-0 shutout victory. The Crimson Hornets were backed by outstanding pitching by senior Ryan Wright, who struck out 14 batters through six and two-thirds. Wright, along with Trent Franklyn, who came on to get the final out of the seventh inning, combined for a no-hitter.

Harpursville/Afton got on the board first with a groundout RBI by Cooper Warren. After a scoreless second inning, the Crimson Hornets added on with two runs in the third inning.

Franklyn singled to lead-off the third before scoring on an RBI triple by Wright. Wright scored on a groundout RBI by Jayden Deleon.
