Norwich softball honors seniors vs Harpursville

NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado softball team returned home on Monday, where they hosted Harpursville for their final home game of the 2025 season. Prior to the game, Norwich honored its four seniors. Congratulations to Caitlin Wetterhahn, Zaylee Thomas, Siennah Bresee, and Emma Palmer.

Norwich and Harpursville batted through seven innings in a high-scoring and hitting affair. The Hornets held a 19-15 victory with Norwich attempting a final comeback in the bottom of the seventh.

Harpursville got on the board with two runs in the top of the first on two outs, which the first out included a tremendous play by Kerragan Reid and Bri Cirigliano to get a runner out at home prior to the double that brought in two runs.

Norwich answered back and tied the game off a two-out, two-run single down the left field line by Emma Baker. The inning started off with a triple by Bri Cirigliano.

Harpursville took the overall lead in the second, third, and fourth innings, keeping Norwich quiet.

Down 14-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Norwich answered with two additional runs. Shaelyn Rice reached on an error on a tough hard hit fly ball that was misplayed to start the inning. She advanced to third on the same error and came in to score on a sacrifice bunt by Brooke Rogers. Emma Palmer drove in a run on a single to center after Zaylee Thomas singled and stole second to be in scoring position.
