AFTON – The Harpursville/Afton baseball team hosted a tough Unatego/Franklin team in Afton on Thursday, which was also senior night for the Afton baseball players. Congratulations to Tristan Pike, Sam Mancuso, Ryan Wright, and Matt Carman.

The Crimson Hornets held a 2-0 lead, heading into the top of the seventh inning. However, the Spartan Devils tied it to send the game into extras. After a scoreless eighth inning, Unatego/Franklin scored eight runs to win 8-2 in nine innings. With Davin Warren pitching the ninth, Ryan Wright, who started the game, was at first base, where Carman, at catcher, and Wright picked off the runner at first for the final out of the top of the ninth.

Wright’s single in the top of the first was the only hit for the Crimson Hornets and Wright came in to score on a wild pitch. Wright held the Spartan Devils scoreless through six and a third innings.
