Greene softball defeats B-G in MAC semis, returns to the championship for first time since 2023

BAINBRIDGE – The Greene Trojans and the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats softball teams met up for a local matchup at B-G’s Greenlawn on Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday’s game was the MAC semifinals with a trip to the MAC Championship on the line. Greene won the contest with a 20-5 victory and returns to the MAC championship for the first time since winning the title in 2023.

Both teams were quick to get on the board in the first with B-G taking a brief 3-2 lead before Greene picked up the pace in the second and third innings with four runs. The Trojans secured the victory with 10 runs in their final at-bats in the sixth and held B-G to five runs in the first two innings.

The two key highlights of the contest for both teams were that there were two home runs hit. Greene’s Audra Doll hit a big grand slam to right field in the second inning after a pitching change. B-G’s Danica Park hit a two-out, two-run homer to center field in the top of the third inning.

Greene’s Mia Yahner barely missed her own home run, but settled for a RBI double on a ball hit off the screen in left field.

Doll led the Trojans with two hits and seven RBIs. Alexis Cloyd had one hit and three RBIS and Ahraya Whitt and Kenzie Button drove in two runs each. Button also stole three bases in the win.
