UV/GMU softball falls short in high-scoring game vs Walton/Downsville

WALTON – The Unadilla Valley/GMU softball team traveled to Walton on Wednesday to take on Walton/Downsville for the second round of the MAC mini tournament. UV/GMU came up short 19-14 in the high-scoring affair. UV outhit Walton/Downsville 14-11.

After the Storm took an early 5-0 lead, Walton/Downsville scored 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the overall lead. UV/GMU stayed up with their fiery opponent by continuing to score runs in the second, third, and sixth inning, but could not stop defensively.

Madison Anderson, Arianna Allen, Shyla Roberts, Natalie Crandall, Olivia Watson, and Alexis Davis each had two hits for the Storm. Davis drove in a team-high two runs as Anderson and Piper Hine each drove in one run.
