B-G softball comes away with close win vs Norwich

NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado softball team hosted Bainbridge-Guilford on Monday afternoon in a rescheduled SFCU tournament game. B-G came away with the 9-8 victory to advance to the Championship game against Oneonta.

Both teams were pumped up in the first three innings, going back-and forth with runs. The game was tied at six after the third inning. After a scoreless fourth, B-G tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fifth and Norwich tied it back up in the sixth inning. However, the Bobcats added the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth and held Norwich in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.

B-G outhit Norwich 11-9 with two hits each from Breanna Casey, Alessandra Cafasso, and Tori Suda. Suda drove in a team-high two runs as Casey, Cafasso, Danica Park, and Railey Odell each drove in one run. Cafasso had a double while Brenna George stole two bases in the win.
