Oxford softball comes up short against Seton Catholic in the opening round of sectionals

BINGHAMTON – The Oxford Blackhawks softball team, who earned the 10th seed in the Section IV, Class C tournament, traveled to Binghamton to take on Seton Catholic in the first round. With the game tied at 3, heading to the bottom of the seventh, Seton walked it off to advance with an RBI single to win 4-3.

“A great game by both teams, “ Coach Matt Dowling said. “Still very pleased with my girls and their performance this season.”

After a scoreless first inning, Oxford took a brief 1-0 lead in the top of the second, scoring on an error. Seton got two runs in the bottom half of the inning and the two teams went back-and-forth with the game tied at 3.
