Section IV Track and Field State Qualifiers Day 1: Oxford-Greene’s Waltz is a sectional champion in the 400 meters

ENDICOTT – The 2025 Section IV State Qualifiers track and field meet kicked off its first of two days on Wednesday, June 4 at Union-Endicott High School. The first day produced one sectional champion with hopefully more to come.
Congratulations to Oxford-Greene’s Keegan Waltz on becoming a sectional champion in the 400 meter run with a time of 48.76 seconds. He will advance to the NYSPHSAA state meet on June 13 and 14 at Middletown High School . Waltz also took third in the long jump with a jump of 21 feet, nine inches.
Girls' Track:
Unadilla Valley’s Gracie Gorrell took fifth in the girls’ 400 meter run with a time of 1:00.94. Bainbridge-Guilford’s Maddie Ingham took fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.73 with Norwich’s Mckenzie Hagenbuch in 10th with a time of 2:31.34. UV’s Molly Gorrell finished 15th in the 800 with a time of 2:37.
B-G’s Madisyn Larsen came in fourth place in the girls’ 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.47 with teammate Laila Williams in 20th (1:16.57).
Girls’ Field:
Harpursville/Afton’s Appalonia Bushaw, who became a Section IV, Class B champion in the long jump, took second at state qualifiers with a jump of 16 feet, 10 inches and just missed the standard on advancing to the state meet. B-G’s Emily Sprow tied for 12th with a jump of 14 feet, 11 and 3/4 inches as Norwich’s Tristan Monroe finished 17th with a jump of 14-1.25.
