Donna Frech School of Dance celebrating 50 years at anniversary recital

NORWICH — The Donna Frech School of Dance is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, and will be marking the milestone with "The Best is Yet to Come," their 50th anniversary recital.


Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21, with matinees at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 in the Norwich High School auditorium. Tickets are $15 per person and will be available at the door.


Donna Frech-Sharp, the owner and founder of the Donna Frech School of Dance, said evening performances will feature their older students, with younger students performing in the matinees. The matinee shows will open with their production class as well, which features students of all ages.

She said her students range from toddlers in the pre-dance classes all the way up to adults in their 60s. There's also a special class for parents of dancers who would like to perform in the recital.


"When we get closer to the recital, I hold a special class for any dance parent who would like to be part of it. It’s kind of like a fun, themed recital dance that all the parents who want to be part of it learn in a couple of weeks, and then they perform it in the recital," said Frech-Sharp.


The recital will include a wide variety of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics, musical theater, hip hop, and lyrical.
