Norwich PONY defeats Edmeston on the road to start summer season
EDMESTON – The Norwich 16 and under PONY league team took the field for the first time this summer, on the road against Edmeston. Norwich came home with a 9-3 victory.
Norwich got ahead early with three runs in the first and four in the second inning. Bo Brown led off the game and reached on a hit by pitch as Pierce Sherman drew a walk. A balk moved the runners into scoring position for Joey Parker. Brown scored on a steal of home while Parker drove in Sherman on an RBI double to center field. Brayden Lawrence lined out to second, but Parker, who stole third, tagged up to score on the play.
After a quick 1,2,3 inning for Bo Brown on the mound, Norwich went back to work in the second inning with two outs. Jed Turner drew a walk but was out on a fielder’s choice to get the force at second base. Bo Brown made it safely on first, where he then stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored on Sherman’s single to center. Joey Parker followed on a triple to bring in Sherman before Blayne Sutton singled to left on the first pitch of the at-bat. Lawrence made it three consecutive hits with an RBI single to left as well.
