NEW BERLIN – On Wednesday, the Unadilla Valley Storm PONY league team hosted the Bainbridge Bolts in a local county matchup, where the game went back-and-forth with several lead changes and saw big defensive plays. The Bolts put up nine runs in the sixth inning to take the game 15-8.
UV got on the board in the first as Reed Osborne led the inning off with a walk, but was caught stealing second. Teagin Eccleston singled to center and came in to score on a two-out RBI double by Kasen Cox, who advanced to third on the throw.
Bainbridge tied it up in the second as Trenton Smith singled to short and was aggressive on the bases as he stole both second and third. Frank Parsons grounded out to bring Smith in. Mason Buchanan had a double to center and tried to reach third base but the throw from Cox to Osborne to third baseman Nick Crandall was right on the money to get the out and end the inning.
UV went ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning. Teagin Eccelston drew a one out walk, stole second and third, and scored on Johnny Favinger’s single to right field. Favinger stole second and came in to score on an error on the next play.
