NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley PONY league team hosted Delhi on Wednesday, coming up short 13-9. The Storm came back from a 6-0 deficit in the later innings, but could not power through to take the lead.
After Delhi started off with three runs in the first and three in the second inning to take an early 6-0 lead, UV answered back in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs to cut the deficit in half.
Teagin Eccleston was hit by the pitch with one out, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout, and scored on a passed ball to put the Storm on the board. Two walks and wild pitches brought in two more runs.
Delhi added on in the top of the sixth, but UV followed with four runs of their own. Kasen Cox led off the inning with a single to center field. Nick Crandall was hit by the pitch as Cox had stole second and third during Crandall’s at-bat. The bases would be loaded with no outs as Teagin Eccleston drew a walk. Johnny Favinger grounded out to bring in a run before UV rallied on two outs.
