The Place offering Babysitter Training Course in South Otselic

SOUTH OTSELIC — The Place has set a date for their next free American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course for Chenango County youth aged 11 to 16.


The class will be held on two days, Thursday, August 7 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. and Friday, August 8 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Otselic Valley Public Library, located at 125 County Road 13A in South Otselic. Attendance of both classes is mandatory to complete the training.


Class size is limited, so prior registration is required. To register, contact The Place at 607-336-9696 ext. 107.

Participating youth will learn how to safely and responsibly care for infants and children. They will learn skills such as how to be a good leader and role model, how to make good decisions and solve problems, how to keep the children in their care and themselves safe, how to handle emergencies and accidents, how to write resumes and interview for jobs, and more.


The Place EPIC Program Coordinator and Certified Babysitter Training Class Instructor Elizabeth Hathaway said this class can be beneficial for youth who are responsible for babysitting younger siblings or relatives, as well as those who want to start their own babysitting business.
