SHERBURNE – After rain dampened the field an inning and two-thirds in on Monday night, the Sherburne and Unatego PONY league teams resumed their doubleheader on a much-drier but cooler Tuesday night. Unatego, who is unbeaten this summer, took both five-inning games.
Game 1: Unatego 3 - Sherburne 1
The scoring for game one occurred all on Monday with Unatego and Sherburne tied at one after the first and Unatego scoring two runs in the top of the second. Sherburne scored its only run in the bottom of the first as Jay Tackabury, who singled to left field, scored on a passed ball. Sherburne had the bases loaded when play resumed on Tuesday with two outs, but failed to score.
Dylan Breen had allowed the three earned runs on three hits, five walks, and two strikeouts through the two innings pitched on Monday for Sherburne. Chance Beeman and Degan Knochenmus worked three scoreless innings, but did not have run support. Colin Pudney, Jay Tackabury, and Nolan Sigman all singled in the game while Beeman led the team with two stolen bases in the game one loss.
