Norwich Post 189 falls short to Binghamton

BINGHAMTON – The Norwich Post 189 Legion ball team played one final time this summer against Binghamton Post 1645 at Conlon Field. Norwich outhit Binghamton 10 to 9 but lost 7-3 on Wednesday evening.

After a scoreless first inning, Binghamton took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI triple and a groundout RBI. Norwich got one back in the top of the fourth to cut the deficit to one run.

Collin Reid led the inning off with a single to center field on a 3-2 count, advanced to second on a two-out hit by pitch, and came in to score on a two-out double by Troy Schack.

Binghamton answered back with a big bottom half of the inning, scoring five runs with two outs, which secured the victory. Norwich scored two final runs in the top of the fifth. Connor White picked up his second hit of the night, after a double in the third inning, with an infield single to third. He advanced to second on a walk to Collin Reid. Both came in to score on Colin Olds two-out, two-run single.

Kolbey Redenback led Norwich with three hits as White had two hits. Olds came up with the two-run single to lead the team in RBIs while Troy Schack had two hits and an RBI. Collin Reid and Zac Turner also came away with hits in the loss.

Owen Olds went four innings for Norwich on the mound, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits, four walks, and three strikeouts. Kassen Stubb worked two scoreless innings, allowing two hits, two walks, and struck out two batters.

Norwich Post 189 finished the 2025 summer season with a 2-9 record. Best of luck to everyone, especially those that will either start college or return to college this fall.
