EARLVILLE- Earlville Opera House presents the next performer in its 2025 Courtyard Series on Friday, August 8 at 7pm, singer-songwriter Anna May.
This year, the Summer Courtyard Series is an All-Women Superstar Series. The Chickadee Sisters will be performing next on August 23.
Shows start at 7 p.m. in our lovely outdoor Courtyard which is undergoing expansion, with the continued debut of a new mural added to EOH’s 1892 National Landmark building.
Tickets are $20/$18 members, and $10 for youth 17 and under.
Originally from Connecticut, before becoming a Western transplant, Anna May is a solo artist whose songs bear a placelessness that lends to their timeless nature. Anna is a critically acclaimed songwriter & vocalist who strives to bring jazz elements into the format of folk.
Deep exploration of heartbreak and trauma has been an ongoing quest throughout Anna's work. Her lyrics have been heavily textured by a lonesome whimsicality that finds itself most at home in the vastness of the American West or in landscapes of stark frontiers.
Anna's music honors the nomadic spirit with memory, meditation & fresh interpretations of folk music and jazz influence. She honors her hope to enhance connection, humility, healing, and joy among people in the process of parting with typical genre rules with alternative tragic Americana
Her style has been compared to artists like Jeff Buckley and Aimee Mann. As a yogi, teacher & poet, Anna masterfully blends all of her influences into her songwriting. Her songs are tender, immersive moonscapes with a deep dive into introspective, meditative soundscapery representing an expansive, western folk flare while exploring the fragile intersection of nature and humanity.
