Chenango County Sheriff investigates Norwich bomb threat

NORWICH - A bomb threat made Tuesday afternoon forced the evacuation of multiple businesses in the Town of Norwich, but authorities say no explosives were found.

Police are still investigating the incident and anyone with information is urged to contact the Chenango County Sheriff's Office at (607)334-2000.

According to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, the threat was made around 1 p.m. Aug. 5 to Community Bank on State Highway 23. The building, which also houses a Mirabito gas station and Dunkin’ Donuts, was evacuated as deputies and New York State Police secured the scene.

A New York State Police explosives detection dog searched the premises and found no signs of any explosive devices. Businesses reopened around 4 p.m.
