OXFORD - Vendors at the Oxford Farmers’ Market this week will be offering a huge abundance late-summer super-tasty locally-grown fruits and vegetables perfect for making ratatouille and soups, for grilling and roasting and steaming, for slicing into a colorful salad or just eating fresh right there on the spot: juicy tomatoes, crisp green beans, flavorful carrots, tender new potatoes, sweet corn and peppers of all colors and heats, and so much more.
This is the time of year when we all want summer to slow down enough so that we can bottle and can and freeze all this goodness to be enjoyed for the rest of the year. But gorging on it in the moment works, too!
In addition to these wonderful seasonal items, vendors this week will also have beautiful mushrooms, locally raised and processed beef and lamb (pork and chicken will be back next week), gorgeous cut flowers and flowering plants; chicken, duck and turkey eggs; a wide range of milk, cheese, butter, and other dairy products; breads and other fresh baked goods; locally-sourced crackers and grain products; fudges, and jams; local hard ciders; maple syrup and honey; hand-made healthy treats for dogs, hand-made soaps, lotions and balms; and items for the kitchen and home. Every product straight from a local source and the skilled hands of your neighbors.
And on top of this all, the talented and ever-entertaining Jo Jo Russell will be performing in the Bandstand.
The Market is open Saturday, 9 am to noon. Music in the Bandstand start at 10 am.
