Norwich Golf rolls on with a tight win over Owego

NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado golf team faced off against Owego Apalachin in the 2025 home opener at the Canasawacta Country Club on Wednesday. Both teams shined, but it was the home team, Norwich, that came away with the close 214-219 victory.

Brevin Bennett led all golfers with a 37 (+1) on the par-36. Matthew Brunick came in with a solid 43 while Michael Brunick and Charlie Smith showed strength by both shooting a 44. Gavin Burrell capped off the team’s total with a 46. Jacob Lobdell shot a 52* as the sixth man.

Owego’s scores ranged from a low 41 to a high 47, keeping things tight all the way through.

Norwich (2-0) heads to play Chenango Forks on Tuesday at 4 p.m. before the start of the new school year.
