NORWICH – Chenango Valley Home & Apartments announced that NBT Bank made a generous commitment to donate $100,000 to the organization’s capital campaign.

Chenango Valley Home is undertaking a two-phase capital expansion to add Assisted Living (ALR) and Memory Care in Chenango County. It will enable Chenango Valley Home to offer affordable alternatives at half the cost of a nursing home and reduce strain on an overburdened Medicaid and nursing home system.

“The response we have received from NBT Bank, and the community is greatly appreciated by Chenango Valley Home,” said Executive Director Jennifer Randall. “The need is great as Chenango County has one of the highest aging populations in New York with over 22% of residents over the age of 65 and the number of seniors over 85 increasing significantly as baby boomers age.”

“At NBT Bank, we have proudly called Chenango County home for nearly 170 years,” said NBT Chief Financial Officer Annette Burns. “We are honored to support local seniors and their families through the efforts of the Chenango Valley home to expand their facility and the services they offer to the community.

The initial phase is expected to cost a minimum of $3 million and is scheduled to begin in fall of 2025. Chenango Valley Home continues to apply for funding as well as campaign for support through local foundations and community members. Anyone wishing to donate can do so on the organization’s donation page at: www.chenangovalleyhome.org.

Chenango Valley Home, a 501 c (3) led by a volunteer community board, has served the Chenango County Area Seniors since 1896.
