Norwich boys soccer wins opener in Oberg’s coaching debut

NORWICH – The Norwich Purple Tornado boys soccer team are under new direction this season with Michael Oberg and assistant coach Mwenda Righa stepping in. Oberg joins Norwich as a first time coach.
Oberg and the Norwich boys hosted Waverly to begin the 2025 season on Thursday, where they picked up a 1-0 shutout victory.
Junior and key returner Wyeth Stafford scored the only goal in the game, unassisted in the 20th minute.
Norwich (1-0) heads to Chenango Valley on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
